The Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data are two of the hot technology topics in recent years. The IoT, a vast network of real-world objects digitized by capturing their status using sensors connected to the Internet, and Big Data, a mixture of large amounts of information, are clearly connected wherein billions of Internet-connected real-world objects, “things”, will generate massive amounts of data. These two technologies are set to transform our everyday life; thus, it is important to be updated on these current trends.

The Real-World Data Circulation (RWDC) Leaders Program is a graduate leading program of Nagoya University that aims to train future global leaders and equip them with the necessary skills to be able to thrive in an international setting. In order to achieve this goal, the RWDC program designed a track on Real-World Work (Global Circulation), wherein students are able to gain international hands-on experiences.

The first step for Real-World Work (Global Circulation) is Global Challenge I, an intensive summer school comprised of technical lectures, cultural exchange activities, and factory visits to different Japanese companies. For the year 2016, the RWDC Summer School will be in collaboration with Hanoi University of Science and Technology, School of Information and Communication Technology. Hanoi was chosen as the destination for this year’s summer school because over the years, economic globalization has allowed the Japanese industry to turn its eyes to its neighboring Southeast Asian countries. Thus, it is beneficial for students of both countries (Japan and Vietnam) to participate in this summer school not only to deepen their technical knowledge but also to gain understanding of the two cultures, through the cultural exchange lectures, and how they can work together in the near future.
